IR Photo Camera!

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 7, 2008, 2:41 PM
Yeah! i finally succeeded! I wanted to do this sooooooooo long: Take IR Photo's using digital camera!

I already experimented with a Hoya IR filter. But using the Hoya filter was not as fun as I thought it would be because of the long shutter times.

Few weeks ago I ordered an IR hot mirror. Few days ago, I finally received the IR Hotmirror!! The downside is however that you have to replace the default hotmirror in the camera yourself. But... I succeeded!

I went out taking some test shots today. Will be uploaded later on...

Can't believe I got a real Infrared DSLR! (Canon 350D)

350D vs 400D

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 1, 2008, 1:10 AM
Yesterday, I bought a used Canon 350D. I have never used a 350D, but always imagined that I would love the 350D much more over my own 400D.

Okay, the 350D is "just" 8 mega pixels vs the 10 mega pixels the 400D has. But the sizes and weight are exactly the same.

The functions of the camera are about the same but found on bit different places. The only function I am missing on the 350D is that you can set the "flash exposure" using the "Set" button.

The best thing about the 350D is the 2nd LCD display which continuously displays the camera settings. B/w LCD display's are the best things to read from on a sunny day. On the 400D it's horrible to read the settings from the color LCD screen on sunny day's.

At night, you can just hit the back light button so the 2nd LCD will get lid up. And it won't blind you as the 400D would do.

So this camera hasn't got Automatic sensor cleaning, big LCD screen and life view... but at least it got a clear 2nd LCD panel with all the settings stated which you can see in 1 overview.

If I had to choose a camera again, I would go for the 350D over the 400D and even 450D!
